Accreditation
The Art Institute of Las Vegas is licensed by the Nevada Commission on Post-secondary Education. It is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology, 2101 Wilson Blvd., Suite 302; Arlington, VA 22201; 703-247-4212.
Application Requirements for first-time college students
Students attending college for the first time and pursuing their first associate’s or bachelor’s degree must complete the following in order to begin the enrollment process:
- Personal Interview. Students are required to meet with an assistant director of admissions. A telephone interview can fulfill this requirement under certain circumstances.
- Complete application for admission, including essay.
- High school transcript or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) test scores. Transcripts must show grades for all years of high school attended and date of graduation. Applicants still in high school will be considered for early acceptance contingent upon proof of graduation. The admissions committee gives preference to students with a 3.0 (B) average or above. Transcripts should be mailed or faxed directly to the college. Before a student may begin studies at The Art Institute of Las Vegas, he or she must have received a diploma from a regionally accredited high school, demonstrating satisfactory completion of state school equivalency requirements, or a GED. A certificate of attendance or completion is not acceptable.
- Official report of Accuplacer test scores. SAT, ACT, or COMPASS test scores can be sued in place of the Accuplacer test. If the applicant has not taken any of these tests prior to application, the Accuplacer test may be taken free of charge at The Art Institute of Las Vegas.

NOTE: A portfolio of the student’s artwork is not required for admission, but is required for GAD and MAA programs. It is also required for high school seniors entering the annual scholarship competition. Work experience in the food service or hospitality industry is not required for culinary applicants.
